Raygun Raptors

Created by Treadhead Rad's Avatar Treadhead Rad

Dinosaurs with lasers, in space! Conquer tabletop battlefields with this collection of modular miniatures.

The Raygun Raptors are an original new race that you can introduce to your tabletop games. A force of ruthless shock troopers combining the predatory animal with high technology. Armed with sickle claws and razor sharp teeth, they are a threat to any opponent. And that's before you add the guns - exotic energy weapons, laser blasters, or more conventional weapons like machine guns and grenade launchers. Clever girls indeed.

The scientific name for the species is Dromaeosaurid Astroraptor. But are they alien raiders? Genetically engineered super soldiers? Invaders from an alternate timeline, where the dinosaurs never became extinct? Or perhaps escapees from a bio-lab, where doomed scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should. It's your army - it's up to you!

The Complete Kickstarter Set consist of:
- Core Set: Troopers, Rangers, Fire Support
- Initial Stretch Goals: Command Squad, Feral Raptors, Stormtroopers, Stormtrooper Command Squad
- Community Stretch Goals: Jump Troopers, Snipers, Psycher, Admiral, Artillerist, Gunfighter, Assassin, Engineer

A note on Add-ons: all paid Add-ons are included as part of the pledges. You do not need to purchase any Add-ons if you have one of the pledges. The Vehicle Commanders are not part of the pledges, they are a bonus free download.

The Engineers are the technology specialists of the Raygun Raptors. You might find one fine-tuning a plasma containment matrix one minute, and lifting up a battle tank the next, with the help of their robotic arm and powered exo-skeleton. If you need something fixed the Engineer is the dinosaur to do it. And if you need something broken, you also needn't worry. That giant wrench has many uses.

The models have been designed to print well on both FDM and SLA/DLP machines. They have been tested on an Ultimaker 3, a Prusa Mini as well as the low price Monoprice Mini Delta. Pre-supported files are also provided, with supports generated in Chitubox.

Miniatures are scaled to 28/32mm but they have been successfully printed by a Kickstarter backer at 15mm as well, using a resin printer.

Files Breakdown

The miniature is provided in five different zip files. Each of these provides you with the complete set of files, so you only need to choose one that best suits your needs.
STL for resin – unsupported files in STL format, best suited to resin printers.
STL for FDM – similar to the above but optimised for FDM printers. Models are split into more parts and oriented for best results.
Pre-supported Chitubox – files with supports for resin printers, in Chitubox format. This format allows you to modify the supports.
Pre-supported STL – same as above, but in STL format. The supports are “baked-in” and can't be modified.
Posed in situ – a special set of files for printing the miniature in one piece. These have to be combined before printing. Do not attempt to print these parts and glue them together afterwards, as they won't fit.

USD 5.00

Some targets cannot be reached even with artillery or orbital weaponry. But if the Raygun Raptor's opponents think they are safe, hiding in some underground stronghold or distant base, they'll soon learn that the dinos have an answer to that too. With the sound of a wrist mounted blade springing out, the shadows suddenly shift and take on the shape of the Assassin - master of stealth and infiltration!

The models have been designed to print well on both FDM and SLA/DLP machines. They have been tested on an Ultimaker 3, a Prusa Mini as well as the low price Monoprice Mini Delta. Where necessary, models have been split up or had supports built in. Models that aren’t split-up are also provided, for use with SLA/DLP printers, or those hobbyists that want simpler assembly. Or, if you prefer, you can create a custom mini with posed heads and weapons. Combine a head, body and weapon in your slicer or another application, like Meshmixer, and print a one-piece mini.
Posed in situ – a special set of files for printing the miniatures in one piece. These have to be combined before printing. Do not attempt to print these parts and glue them together afterwards, as they won't fit.

The Stormtroopers are the elite soldiers of the Raygun Raptors. Clad in heavy armour and carrying supercharged laser weapons, these dinos are both tougher and more deadly.

The Raygun Raptors are an extensive collection of miniatures providing you with many troop types and their associated weapons. Find out more on the Kickstarer page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/treadheadrad/raygun-raptors-army-of-3d-printable-sci-fi-miniatures

This set contains nine miniatures: six stormtroopers, a pack leader and two specialist gunners. They have many head and weapon options.

The heads are separate from the bodies and poseable, meaning no two raptors ever have to be the same. Weapons are separate too, allowing you to choose each raptor's load-out. Pre-supported files are also provided, with supports generated in Chitubox.

Miniatures are scaled to 28/32mm but they have been successfully printed by a Kickstarter backer at 15mm as well, using a resin printer.

Files Breakdown

The miniatures are provided in five different zip files. Each of these provides you with the complete set of miniatures, so you only need to choose one that best suits your needs.
STL for resin – unsupported files in STL format, best suited to resin printers.

A trio of vehicle commanders to accompany the Raygun Raptors Kickstarter campaignClick here for the rest of the collection.

These minis will fit perfectly in a SCAMP, but should also work in any other vehicle you may have. You might just need to do a little modelling to make them stay put in the hatch. Raygun Raptors in MAV3RICK tanks anyone?

There are three body variants and four heads. You may print the bodies and heads separately or combine them before printing by merging a body and its associated head model. There are also pre-supported versions supplied. These come in Chitubox format, allowing you to adjust the supports to your needs.

These miniatures should print nicely on both FDM and resin printers. My example models were printed on a Prusa Mini.

Enjoy and happy printing!
