Vargar Champion
As the second in command, the pack Champion has a large part in raising and training the young pups to become strong warriors. He leads the charge into any battle or hunt, following the direction of the leader. The champion will occasionally express especially brutal methods of killing, revelling in the chaos and suffering he inflicts on their prey.
Vargar Leader
Strength, confidence and self-assuredness is the foundation of the pack. Guiding his pack through tough winters, arduous hunts and brutal battles with the humans he sets an example for his family and a model for his legacy.
Vargar Savage
A Vargar, when in a desperate battle or on a terribly difficult hunt; can shut down their higher brain, leaving only the most basic instincts and brutality to guide them through the fight. Once the fight is ending, the Vargar can then begin the journey back to themselves, recovering their abilities to think critically and communicate with those around them. A savage is one who underwent this change but did not return. The savage will typically spend its time near the rest of the pack but is unable to either convey or understand simple messages with its members. The Pack members, though wary, will still attempt to include the savage in hunts and meals while never leaving him alone with the pups.
Vargar Shaman
At a young age, shamans are discovered within a regular Vargar litter. While other cubs are learning the way of the pack, the will-be-shamans seem to be listening and taking orders from something else. Little is known of where this shift from the norm originates, what its purpose is, how the young pups are chosen, or even how the process works. Once mature, shamans seem to know which way the wind will blow, sense incoming danger and can even hold great power over the Jötunn, communicating with them directly to benefit the pack.
Vargar Assassin
Quick-footed, observant shrewdness and silent killings describe the Vargar Assassin. She is the mate of the Vargar leader. Guiding the pack through tough winters, arduous hunts and brutal battles with the humans she sets an example for her family and a model for her legacy. In the spring, when she is just a month away from giving birth, the pack will find a place to settle while she digs a den for her pups to spend the first few weeks of their life. She will not take part in hunts again until the cubs are old enough to begin travelling with the pack.
Vargar Warrior A
The warriors will generally be involved in every hunt, unless a few have chosen to stay back and provide protection for young cubs and their mother. Raised by the pack Champion as a unit, the warriors can operate in a highly coordinated and disciplined way. Sometimes moving as though sharing a consciousness, the warriors certainly provide proof that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Vargar Warrior B
The warriors will generally be involved in every hunt, unless a few have chosen to stay back and provide protection for young cubs and their mother. Raised by the pack Champion as a unit, the warriors can operate in a highly co-ordinated and disciplined way. Sometimes moving as though sharing a consciousness, the warriors certainly provide proof that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Vargar Warrior C
The warriors will generally be involved in every hunt, unless a few have chosen to stay back and provide protection for young cubs and their mother. Raised by the pack Champion as a unit, the warriors can operate in a highly coordinated and disciplined way. Viking Berserker
Renowned for their fearlessness and fury in conflict; a berserker is likely to roar into the midst of a battle with as little clothing or armour as possible, showing no fear at the prospect of death, rather, the confidence with knowing Valhalla is waiting. Berserkers are the warriors that can be relied on to not just hold their nerve when faced with impossible odds but to be keen at the prospect.
Spieder A
Speiders are reclusive huntsmen that live on the far edges of the Jarl’s lands, through choice, not rejection. They are skilled in stealth and have mastered the art of becoming obscure along with developing the truest of accuracy with ranged weapons. Speiders will scout ahead of their raiding party to gauge enemy numbers, sabotage weaponry, eliminate sentries and create opportunities that give their clan the best chance of success.

Thane
The Thane is the Jarl’s second in command; stepping up into the role of Jarl should he ever be indisposed. He is the Jarl’s most trusted warrior, friend, and confidant. In times of peace, if the Jarl dies with no eligible heirs, the Thane takes the place of the Jarl and chooses a Thane for himself from the Huskarls.
Jarl
The Jarl is the leader of the Viking village, the surrounding farms and land. He deals with disputes within his population, anything that could affect his people and land, Jarls from neighbouring lands and all other politickings necessary to keep his hold safe. He makes (and breaks) alliances with other leaders and makes decisions that have a major influence on the never-ending wars the Vikings were part of. He decides when and where to raid, following the advice of his wife or wives, his Thane, his most trusted Huskarls, his Gothi and his Seer. All members of their community will have pledged fealty to the Jarl.
Gothi
The Gothi is a magic-user at the Jarl’s disposal. It is his duty to assist in raids; fulfilling an attack role, providing guidance, explaining the Will of The Gods and knowing what is to be expected from any venture his leader is contemplating. The Gothi is close to the Jarl, staying in the longhouse where the Jarl sleeps. He generally will accompany the warriors on larger raids and battles; assisting the warriors with elemental magic, conjuring spirits to fight and occasionally using healing spells.
Huskarl Axe & Shield A
The Huskarls are strong and capable warriors. In peacetime they fulfil guard type roles; patrolling the village, keeping order, breaking up fights and ensuring all threats to the Jarl and his lands are dealt with swiftly. In return for unwavering loyalty and ceaseless dedication, they enjoy sleeping in the longhouse; along with the Jarl, Thane and Gothi and are offered some of the best weapons and armour available. They will frequently lead raids, and make up the vanguard of any battle the clan finds itself in.
Huskarl Axe & Shield B

Bondi Axe & Shield A
Bondi are the bulk of any Viking raiding force. They are the men and women that, through the winter months, are running things at home. They are the common villagers; the blacksmith, the cobbler, the fletcher, the traders and all those who do all the jobs to keep their homes and village running smoothly. Then in Spring, they will join their Jarl on a raid looking for plunder. The strongest from each home; typically, a father and his eldest son would leave the rest of the household to maintain the trade while they are away. These raids are vital to maintaining their livelihoods; new anvils, mead, grain, tools and leather are gained through trading the loot they acquire.
Since they are mostly peasants it is very unlikely that they will have armour. Leather Jerkins would be a luxury to have and any heavier armour or weapons they own are family heirlooms. Many of their weapons will be the tools of their trade that are also suited to battle. Axes have changed their intended target from firewood to flesh and bone. Spears and bows and arrows, from hunting game to hunting the targets of the raid.

Shieldmaiden
Although most women stayed behind during raids to maintain their homes, look after children and manage any other work that needs doing, occasionally a woman may find herself with few responsibilities and will take up arms. Women who could physically manage a weapon and the stresses of battle could be selected to become a Huskarl. These women are known as shieldmaidens. Although not as physically powerful as their male counterparts, shieldmaidens were often valued for their swiftness, agility and quick-thinking in conflict.

The Seer is a magic-user at the Jarl’s disposal. It is her duty to assist in raids as support; to provide guidance, an understanding of the Will of The Gods and to know what is to be expected from any venture her leader is contemplating. The Seer’s gifts are quiet but vital. She stays in her hut further away from the village, reading bones and runes, crafting poultices and potions, tending to her herb gardens and offering aid to those who request it. The Jarl will call upon her when making plans, considering all she sees in her visions. She will attend raids and battles of all sizes, staying in the background until needed by her clansmen.
