Eagles and Prey
Published 2019-11-01T18:45:12+00:00
Eagles and Prey is a bronze sculpture by Christophe Fratin and the oldest known sculpture in the NYC Parks department. This work was cast in Paris in 1850 and donated to the City and installed in Central Park in 1863. It is located 40.77243499992844,-73.97253166734153.
The work depicts a goat trapped in the talons of two eagles.
There are two files attached, one for the sculpture as a whole eagles-prey, and a trucated version that crops in closer to the subject called eagles-prey-top.stl
This mesh was heavily modified due to the complex nature of the sculpture. The ruffled feathers along with the low contrast of the material was challenging to work with.
This any many of the outdoor sculptures I've been scanning are pretty difficult to capture due to placement of the work, model contrast, sunlight any many other unpredictable/unavoidable artifacts. But I hope you enjoy printing them!
