Description
This herm had been stolen and was returned from Italy. At the upper part of the rectangular pillar is the head of Hermes. Hermes was, among other properties, the patron of travellers, therefore herms were erected on roads and at crossroads. The phallus carved on the front fave of the pillar is both a symbol of pleasure and an apotrapaic element.
