DESCRIPTION
These are Roman Legionaries for microscale wargaming. It includes the files both for 6mm and 3mm versions, which, although almost identical in all aspects, have subtle differences so they are not just the same model but scaled down or up. You can print the 3mm version at x2 the size, but the pila (javelines) might look oversized or the arms too small.
Each legionary carries two pila, and its most distinctive feature, the large scutum shield. The armor is lorica segmentata, not chainmail.
ARRANGEMENT
The models come in strips. The 6mm version in 4 figures per strip on a 20x5mm base, and the 3mm with 13 (more on the command strip) on a 32x4mm strip (36x4 for the command.)
Both versions have the Command strip (foremost, with the centurion with vine staff, signifier, and buccinator) and Optio strip (the final strip, with the Optio Officer.) There are then 4 other strips, which although named first, second, third, and fourth, can be arranged in any order. They are not cloned strips, and the figurines are rearranged in different positions and have different poses to break monotony and sameness. The 6mm version also has alternative signifiers (standard-bearer) with boar, hand, and eagle versions.
SUPPORTS
The models don't need supports and I have modeled them so they can be printed directly onto the plate. If, however, your 3dprinter has z-compression issues (the model is flattened a millimeter or so) which is noticeable on very small models (feet might disappear,) you can just print them on supports, and even tilt the model up to -2º on the Y-axis and you'll only need to add supports on the base.
Althogh low-poly and a bit rough to simulate metal miniatures, these are quite detailed, so I'd use a low resolution. Personally, I always print them at 0.02, but I guess they will work at higher ones too.
