The maker community's response to the PPE shortage has been incredible. In a matter of days, efforts around the world popped up.
Locally I've been working with a maker space in Minneapolis, Minnesota called "Nordeast Makers." They are leading the effort in Minneapolis and have been coordinating designs with CentraCare Health to get a shield approved for local use.
As part of the effort, I put my Fusion 360 knowledge to use and after many iterations this is the v1 of our collaboration to create a comfortable and durable visor for local healthcare workers. Dubbed MNv1-1 (MinnesotaV1), if we update the design, I will name them v2, v3, etc.
We wanted to keep the frame light but also wanted a lip that allowed for weather stripping (or foam) to create a buffer between the forehead and the plastic. The design also kept a rounded front, minimizing gaps at the top.
This model was heavily inspired by the awesome design by 3DVerkstan. It also took influences from the wonderful designs by Prusa Research, Adafruit, and Stratasys.
The plastic shield assembly uses the 3 hole punch method, with a 1" offset on center, for a total of 6 holes. It follows the 3DVerkstan method for the 6 hole version of their North American design.

This model was made from scratch in Fusion 360 and is free for non-commercial use.
For best results, print with a .20mm layer height, 5 shells, and 20% infill. There are two STLs, one is a single visor and the other is two rotated to fit on a single build plate.
