Located in the rose garden of the Parc de la Tête d’Or in Lyon, France, this statue was commissioned by the city to modern artist André Tajana.
By its name but also its location (next to an ornamental lake in the rose garden), this sculpture gives life to the Ancient myth of naiads and nymphs, creatures of springs, rivers and fresh water. These spirits are characterized by their fundamental freedom: in their form but also in their way of living, playing tricks on humans and seducing them.
André Tajana paid great attention to the volumes and shapes of his creation: her features are simple yet refined and her impressive size only emphasizes her elegance and sensual position.
