It is made with natural anise flavouring and through its fresh taste is a popular aperitif. This classic brand from the South of France has always retained a contemporary touch. Created in 1951 when the ban on anise-based aperitifs was lifted in France, Pernod 51 took the name Pastis 51 in 1954. It became the Pernod company’s leading brand in 1968.
