Small Pendulum Wall Clock
Small Pendulum Wall Clock

This is a 3D printed pendulum clock with an 8-day runtime and an accuracy of 1-2 minutes per week. The primary goal was to make a functional clock. It needed to be accurate and still be running when returning from a short vacation. It also needed to look good. This clock achieves those goals.
This design is mostly 3D printed. A few hidden metal components are needed to keep friction low enough to support an 8-day runtime. My clock has been running continuously for over almost three years.
This clock is based on my design that was posted to a different site. New upgrades will be posted here. The escapement and gears have been completely redesigned for 3D printing. Looking at my older clocks, I realized that the designs were mostly ported versions of old style brass clocks. Significant changes have been made to this new design.
A short video of the clock in operation is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imYTm0Vh5TA
Total print time is around 90 hours on a Prusa MK3. The largest components need a 250mm x 210mm x 200mm print area (Prusa MK3S) or 220mm x 220mm x 200mm (Ender3), but are also included in pre-split versions to fit build volumes as small as 180mm x 180mm x 100mm. Total filament is around 0.75kg PLA in multiple colors.
Comprehensive assembly instructions are included in the files.
A forum to help debug the assembly or discuss other clock related issues has been set up at https://www.stevesclocks.com/forum
Larger and more impressive clocks have been released as premium designs. Significant changes have been made to make the new designs more efficient and easier to build. They can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn1OaGAae5w and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djp73Q6tXZA

04-Mar-21 Update: Added a DXF file with the major frame components for users to make slight modifications. The file is 3d_clock1_frame.dxf.
02-Sep-23 Update: Added Rev 2 updates to create a solid connection between the pallet and pendulum arm. Adjustable height standoffs are also added. All new files have a "rev2" suffix in the file names. A complete description is in the rev2 addendum pdf. The files can also be found at https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-wall-clock-rev-2-updates-321782
09-Oct-2023 Update: Added pallet_myminifactory_rev2.stl to replace pallet_rev2.stl. The escapement and pallet are different between the MyMiniFactory and Thingiverse designs. The parts are not interchangeable, so separate designs are needed. Thingiverse and Printables will get a new file called pallet_thingiverse_rev2.stl.
All files print without needing supports. My default print settings are 0.4mm nozzle, 0.15mm layer height, 4 perimeters, 30-50% cubic infill, random seam positions, and 0.1-0.2mm elephant foot compensation. I have only tested the design in PLA.
