Spool Hanger

This is a 3D printed filament spool hanger designed for Joel's 3D Printing Nerd spool hanger competition. The Assembly consists of a small printed hanger and a segment of 1/2 inch PVC pipe. The hanger fits over the narrow edge of the wood strips in Joel's shelves which I've recreated for testing. It is easy to pick up and move to whatever location on the shelf you want to drop a spool from and start printing.
I found a width of 17mm gave me a good fit on the wood and a 21.64mm hole at 20º elevation provided a snug fit for the PVC and just the right angle. With this design you are free to cut the PVC to fit your spools. The printed part took me about 45 minutes on my Prusa i3MK2.
I printed with 5% density support material just to keep the dimension of the hole within specification to receive the PVC. I used a 15% density cubic infill with 1mm shells and a layer height of .25mm. Post processing is just a matter of yanking out the plug from the hole. The part can be printed on either of the flat faces. I've printed them in PLA here but nylon would probably be the best choice.
