Spool Holder
Spool Holder

This is a spool holder of my own design intended to be screwed down onto a surface. In addition to the printed parts you will need the following:
688z bearings - 2 for each wheel - a single spool would use 8 of these.
M8 Bolts - 2 per stand - suggested length 40mm. Smooth shaft for free running, Fully threaded for a little resistance.
M8 Nuts - 1 for each bolt you use ;)
When assembling make sure you don't tighten the bolts. There should be a little distance between the uprights and the wheel so that it can rotate freely.
The Files
I've provided a layout of parts sufficient to make a stand for one spool. Files for the individual parts can be downloaded separately if this proves more convenient. If downloading parts separately you would need 4 uprights, 4 mounts and 4 wheels to support one spool.
Optional
Screws to mount the stands to a surface. Type of screw will be dependant on what surface you're attaching.
Glue to fix the stands in place on the mounts. The friction fit should be fairly good but if you want to be sure they will not move glue them in place. Again choose an adhesive that suits the material you're printing.
Resolution:
0.2mm (increments that round easily every mm should also work)
Infill:
32% though you could probably go lower.
Notes:
2 perimeters, 4 top / bottom layers. Experiment with gap fill and thin wall settings to get a configuration that prints the thin raised walls well. Support material is built into the wheel model. It should prise away from the rest of the model quite easily after printing but is necessary as a strong foundation on which the mid section of the wheel can form.
