Spool Holder for 3D Printing Nerd's contest. Will hold fillament spools by installing to the front of a 1" x 2" wood rail without disturbing a spool directly behind the spool holder. A 3D printed screw clamps the spool holder in place.
It was designed in inches so it may require scaling to 2540% if it appears too large or too tiny in your slicer. Place the largest flat surface on the build plate. No supports or skirt or raft is required. It does require an infill of at least 20% and 1.2mm walls (total thickness) for best results. The test print was make with PLA using .2mm layer height and a .4mm nozzle.
Applying a drop of oil to the threads prior to engagement will help. Also, advance and retract the bolt a little at a time if excessive resistance isf encountered. Repeat as required.
A few minor changes were made in the final design after the pictured test print was made.
