This is the Beat Bot, the print in place fold up robot!
As much as I like to create my own desgins, this was too cool not to make, as the fold up mechanism was created by Fab365 and their Folding Robot-A design which I really recommend purchasing if you haven't already. Although I did model this all myself, I did use their design as a reference. There are four different models, a record player robot with/without headphones, and a speaker robot with/without headphones.
As usual this was designed in Fusion 360, and all of the joints move. This model does require some kind of adhesive to join the different tiles together, standard CA glue or epoxy should do the job fine. One of the aims of this robot is for it to be customizable, so I have included a blank version to add your own design to the front.
This is a relatively easy to print as long as you have good bed adhesion. It doesn't require supports, and if a raft helps you get good bed adhesion, use it. If the nozzle catches on one of the arms, it will knock it free, but it won't fall over. This will cause layer shifts. Also do not scale the model down (below 75%) as this will cause the joints to weld. In the pictures, there are splits where the parts have been folded, however this will not happen (nearly as much) as this was a problem with the model that has now been fixed. Happy Printing :)
