Description
Crown of a public funerary monument, carved from Pentelic marble and found west of Athens, in the area of the Demosion Sema.
According to the inscription on the epistyle, the monument was erected in honor of the Athenian riders who fell in the battles of the Corinth and Koroneia. The list of the deceased includes the name of Dexileos, a young man who was also commemorated by means of a private relief stele that came to light in the ancient cemetry of the Kerameikos.
