This is my entry for the contest to design a spool holder suitable for mounting and holding a spool. To make it more useful I have added parameters to the source files that would allow someone to customise it to mount to rails with different dimensions. I have uploaded two versions. The first one makes some sacrifices in strength to reduce material use and the other uses a little more material to give a stronger holder.
The end user can of course change the parameters used in the source file to create designs that (for example) increase the thickness of the wrap around the rail.
This was printed with 0.24mm initial layer height, 0.16mm for the remaining layers with a 0.4mm nozzle in MG Chemicals Green ABS. 105C bed temp and 235C hot end temp.
A brim of 3mm was used along with a little support under the back of the rounded section to improve print adhesion and finished part quality respectively.
