The myth of Danaides is the story of fifty women who commit a horrible wrongdoing: guided by their father, they all kill their husbands on their wedding night! This great massacre was unbelievable, even for the bloody ancient Greek myths. It was a crime that both people and gods would punish. Indeed, the Danaides were punished for this after their death with a horrible and eternal torment. 

Displayed at the Museum für Abgüsse Klassischer Bildwerke in Munich. It is a museum of classical paintings and sculpture. It shows sculptures of Greek and Roman antiquity from the 7th century BC to the 5th century AD. 

The focus of the collection is on the masterpieces of Hellenistic sculpture since the time of Alexander the Great and Roman portrait art from the late republic to late antiquity. While the marble and bronze origins of the Greeks and Romans are scattered throughout museums around the world, the original plaster casts can be found in two 18-meter-high, light-flooded halls.
