Dr. Jan Hubert Van Raemdonck, born in Sint-Niklaas on July 12, 1817 and deceased on June 12, 1899, was co-founder of the Royal Archaeological Circle of Waas Country in 1861. He was the first curator of the city museum and the founder of Mercator Collection. He was also a doctor.
