The History of 3D Printing series recognizes key milestones in the history of 3D printing. Marker #2 reads "3D PRINTING RECOGNIZED IN THE 2013 STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS". The marker can be used at demonstrations and educational events to add an additional layer of information while showcasing 3D printing as an integral part of the history of MAKING. Please share your ideas for other historical markers or make and share your own. A template and History of 3D Printing Marker #1 can be found at https://www.myminifactory.com/object/27800
The original purpose of the Historical Marker was as part of a Social Science lesson plan http://designmaketeach.com/2013/04/30/project-idea-design-a-historical-marker/
The Historical Marker Template was created from scratch based on common design elements found in images of historical markers. The example was primed and painted with acrylic paints. The marker is painted to simulate traditional historical markers and give the subject of 3D printing a weight and significance.
Makers, artists and designers working in 3D printing have an opportunity to craft the narrative surrounding their work.
