A 3D printable robust and durable light-duty Jack Stand rated for 20 Kg (44 lbs) when printed according to the instructions, for use while working on a recumbent tricycle or other light weight items at home or on the road. The jack stand consist of 3 separate legs and a flexible rest. It can be adjusted to different heights ranging from about 250 mm to 430 mm, for optimal positioning of the trike while working on it.
The parts can be easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive 3D Printer. The main parts can be printed with a variety of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and many other types of printable materials.
PETG works very well for this application. It is easy to print. The object should be durable, easy to maintain, and last for a long time.
PLA should work as well as long as the parts will not be used, stored or kept at in a high temperature environment, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F).
The Flexible Rest Top can be easily printed without any support using TPU or any other flexible material you are comfortable with. I had good luck with both 97A and 95A TPU.

Recommended print settings with a .4 mm nozzle
- Layer Hight: .2 mm
- 5 perimeters or shells (2.25 mm)
- 12 bottom layers (2.4 mm)
- 12 top layers (2.4 mm)
- Infill 15%~20%, depending on infill type
Note: The jack stand walls are designed with a 4.5mm thickness. Therefore setting the slicer to 5 perimeters of .45 mm line width, will result in a solid wall without infill.
Additional items needed for assembly
- Quick release pin(s) ~ 4 mm wire thickness
Assembly Instructions
1- Glue the FLEX Rest Top onto the top of the Rest Leg with any suitable flexible adhesive. I had good luck with “Shoe GOO”, but silicone glue should work just as well.
2- Insert the Jack Stand Leg into the base, then insert the Rest Leg into the Jack Stand Leg.
3- Adjust the Jack Stand to the desired hight and secure with the Jack Stand Pin(s)
4- Important – Always secure the "Jack Stand's Pin" with a "Quick Release Pin" to prevent the jack stand's pin from accidentally coming loose during use.
