I downloaded this guys files when I saw it but noticed his stl mesh and fusion 360 file was broken so I decided to fix it (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2693157). Then I had the idea to remodel it to be used as a litophane picture frame. It's designed to hold a DC input jack (2.1x5.5mm), a simple SPDT or SPST switch and a potentiometer.
They are used to control a white LED strip, you can choose to only put the strip on the bottom but you can also put them all around the inner perimeter. (See pictures)
If you want to hang it up on a wall you can do so but then I advise not to use the potentiometer since it sticks out the back. So the general LED state will be either on or off.
The DC in jack will generally need a 12V DC adapter, lower voltages are also possible (6-12V -> Higher is brighter).
Pictures need to be 139x114mm or 5.5x4.5 inches, to big and they won't fit, to small and they will fall through. Measuring the distance manually with calipers can be done to make sure.
Print on scale 1:1 or the holes won't fit. Each piece takes around 6-10hours to print depending on your speed settings. I'd advise not to go above 120mm/s, 60-90 is ideal.
Support material can be necesarry depending on your printers bridging capabilities, for the wall mount slots on the bottom piece and the countersunk cilinders on the top piece
