Description
From the necropolis along the Sacred Way. Tragic mask of a male figure, probably from the grave of an actor. Stone masks served as votive offerings or ornamentation in buildings associated with the dramatic contests from the mid 4th c. BC onwards, a period in which this institution of the democratic regime flourished to a great extent.
