So this is a small scarborough style reel that I developed. I stumbled accross the Scarborough style while researching Alvey reels. The style appealed to me immediately, so i made one.
How to make
Plastics
-print files as attached
-Plastic used is ABS and has been polish with acetone vapours
-A housing has been included for a 15x6x5mm bearing on both side.
Timber
-The timber was recycled from out floorboards in a scrap yard.
-The timber was laser cut (still looking for the files to upload). If you don't have a laser they can easily be cut with traditional tools.
-Timber finished with wattyl 7008 2 pack high gloss estipol (Super water resistant) but any estipol should be fine.
-Plastic and timber were joined with a 2 pack adhesive and hand sanded (don't forget to put the bearing in before you glue the timber cap over it).
Stainless steel
-I made a mould for the reel seat and pressed some scrap steel over it in a 6 Ton press.
-The arm is also scrap steel and was bent on a pan brake and spot welded to the real seat.
-I tapped the arm with a M6x1 Tap to allow me to double bolt the middle pin to allow the reel to spin freely.
Handle
-Are also glued into place with 2 pack adhesive which allows them to spin freely.
