Meleager is a character from Greek mythology . He was a prince of Calydon and an Argonaut, and participated in the hunt for the Calydonian boar.
The main legend concerning this character is the protagonist of the Calydonian boar hunt and is probably linked to the transcription of a folk tale and tied to a lost (the Pleuronie of Phrynichus), but the result of its existence, there are two distinct versions and of which one sees his life end shortly after the killing of the animal and the other that describes him engaged in fighting in a war against the Curetes and which took place some time later.
Pausanias confirms the double version of the myth by speaking of two other lost works ( Catalog of women and Miniads ) and writing that those texts said that Meleager was killed by Apollo fighting alongside the Curetes
