Marble, 600 - 550 BC
The marble basin, the stand and the pedestal block made of limestone were found in the debris of the Archaic temple of Athena in Miletus, which was destroyed by the Persians. The form of the basin with the rotelles, and the form of the stand are modelled on bronze implements.
