For less than $20 you can make something easy, fun, and genuinely useful. This weather clock automatically connects to wi-fi and then cycles through current and predicted weather concisely. It is based on the article 'ESP8266 Weather Clock' by Craig A. Lindley in the November 2016 Nut&Volts magazine, www.nutsvolts.com/magazine/article/November_2016ESP8266-Weather-Clock
This is an easy project needing only 2 parts and some jumper wires. No soldering, screws or glue are involved and should be fun for anyone with basic skills. The case I designed works for a SainSmart 1.8" LCD with SD socket (same unit as the Adafruit in the article, just tie RES and VCC to 3V3), or with the Adafruit $10 bare 1.8 LCD.
Print the case at .2mm, base at 100% fill with supports, cover at 35% fill no supports.
Setting this on your dresser will provide valuable info getting ready for work for years to come.
