¡Bienvenidos a CDMX!
As a homage to Mexico's capital city, MiniWorld 3D brings the most complete collection of its landmarks and famous buildings! This project is huge so we'll break it in parts, each containing a few buildings following a theme.
Part 1 is the Zócalo square, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, National Palace, and CDMX lettering, all located at the heart of Mexico City.
These two historical buildings are amongst the oldest in the continent, dating back to the 1500's. Built atop the ruins of the Mexica (Aztec) city of Tenochtitlán and reusing the same stones, they represent the 2 powers of the new Spanish rulers: the Church and the Crown.
Today, the National Palace remains as one of the main offices for the president and as a venue for official events. Gorgeous murals by famous artist Diego Rivera decorate its walls, telling the History of Mexico. It used to be the Viceroy of New Spain's palace during colonial times.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico is the main catholic church building in the country, seat of Mexico's archbishop, and one of the most massive in the world, which has caused it to slowly sink into the ground over almost 5 centuries.
The 4 letters "CDMX' are an abbreviation for "Ciudad de México", and have become popular recently as the name for the city.
