To test out a filament I have created a few models to print in addition to some models that have already been created and posted here on Thingiverse. I am only uploading my models and will have links to the other models that I use. I wanted to start sharing more information about the filaments I use and what makes them special. To accomplish this I have come up with 5 material properties tests and 5 geometric tests that help fine-tune print settings and showcase what material properties each filament offers.
All prints are printed with 2 perimeters and 25% infill Except the stiffness model. It is printed 2 perimeters 80% infill
MATERIAL PROPERTIES TESTS (5)
Layer Adhesion - Split model printed oriented standing up (T on buildplate). Force measured while pulling until failure.
Yield Strength - Split model printed oriented laying on side (Yield on buildplate). Force measured while pulling until failure.
Stiffness - Stiffness model held with vice and force vs angle displacement measured.
Thermal Stability - Thermal model loaded in tension with heater cartridge in middle. Temperature is held for 2 minutes then measured for stretch before increasing temperature additional 5 degrees.
Impact Resistance - Benchy model being hit with .25 gram airsoft pellets at 400 feet per second.

GEOMETRY TESTS (5)
Bridging - Make's bridge model is a great test for seeing a material's ability to stretch and to ensure your bridging settings are working. (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:533472/#files)
Small Feature - Make's Magazine fine positive feature model is a retraction stress test as it tests retraction and temperature settings. (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:533472/#files)
Overhang - Make's overhang model pushes the limits of any 3d printer with varying angles of an unsupported beam. A material that easily warps will not pass this test. (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:533472/#files)

Cellular Lamp - When scaled down to 75% this is a very hard print that demands filament to not warp, many retractions, has lots of small features, and everything is an overhang. The ultimate stress test. (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:19104)
