This relief belongs to a category of artworks imitating the funerary high-reliefs that decorate the exedras (a semicircular recess or plinth, often crowned by a semi-dome, which is sometimes set into a building's façade or is free-standing) of the hypogea (an underground temple or tomb) and funerary towers of Palmyra.
