More than one hundred Roman copies of the statue of Eros drawing his bow still exist. The original was created by the Greek sculptor Lysippos of Sicyon in the late 4th century BC. For the first time in Greek sculpture, the god of love is rendered in a childlike appearance with a dreamy face.
