Working on an FDM printable flute. (I've recently made an improved re-design you can find here) It's what gets called an Irish Flute, which is really a flute that is based on the design of wooden flutes of the classical period (mid 1800's) but without keys. The shape of the inner bore is based on Terry McGee's measurements of a flute made by a flute maker named Clinton in 1851. Everything else about the flute is my design.
It can be printed without support if you print all the parts except for the foot upside-down. It should be printed so that it is solid, and rather than making the infill 100%, I've found that I prefer to make the number of wall lines such that it is more than the thickness of the model. After printing it plays better if the interior is sanded at least a little with a course sandpaper. I prefer to sand the outside very smooth, but that is not as necessary. In order to make the joints air tight, I've been using the traditional method of winding the joints with thread and wax. If you know how to do the cork joints usually found on clarinets and such, that should work fine.
