Lithophane Lamp
Lithophane Lamp

Show off your fancy lithophane printings with this lamp design. It provides slots for four 120mm x 120mm x 3.6mm lithophanes. The visible image area is 11cm x 11cm.
The lamp is designed for an E27 LED. It is possible to use a RGB version with an infrared remote. The signal can pass the printed lithophanes for short ranges (~30cm) and the lamp base provides a snug fit slot to store the remote.
The top panel is pressed into corresponding notches in the frame. If the lamp is turned on the light shines through some areas in the top. These holes are designed to allow the exchange of the top cover. Feel free to design you own top panel. You can use the one I provided as a base to get all notches correct.
Since the lamp does not require glue for assembly it is possible to exchange the lithophanes (and top panel) at any time as well as the LED lamp in case of failure. That way you can match the lamp the current season/your mood ;-).

Note: I blurred part of the images since they contain my private pictures. Nevertheless my lovely cats are visible in the picture. The pictures of my cats are contained in the downloadable files, so you can help to spread these lovely killing machines all over the world.

I used AmazonBasics ABS (1.75mm/2.85mm) for all of the parts.
It is up to you to generate the lithophanes, this is the website I used.
I used the following settings for lithophane generation:
- Lithophane Resolution: 0.1
- Base Length: 120
- Base Width: 3.6
- Base Height: 5
- Overhang Angle: 45
- Maximum Thickness: 3.6
- Minimum Thickness: 0.6
- Height: 120
I printed all lithophanes solid at 0.1 layer heigth with a 0.4mm nozzle. Keep in mind to print them rather slow. After printing I sanded the back to get a nice shiny surface which (hopefully) increses the final appereance. But this step can be skipped.
All other parts were printed at 0.2mm layer height with 20% infill.
All parts are designed with 0.2mm tolerance and can be assembled by pressfitting them without any glue.
The total print time for all parts was way over 40 hours because lithophane printing is very slow.
