This is a life-size sculpture of a monkey, cast in Bronze by contemporary Belgian sculptor Jean Roig. Roig's subjects vary but animals are a occuring theme in the work. The animals are often placed upon pedestals and have motifs which suggest that it is in struggle; note this sculpture's chains which bind it to the plinth. The statue adorns the fountain of Pieter Breughel square.
