This is a rotating platform for showing products, shooting videos or for 3D scanning objects. It is powered by USB and controlled by an Arduino Nano, that drives a 28BYJ-48 stepper motor.
For this project you will need:
- 6x M4*30mm flat head bolts
- 5x M3*10mm flat head bolts
- 3x M3 nuts
- 11mm*3mm steel pin (can be cut from a 3mm steel rod)
- 4.5mm steel balls (they will work as ball bearings, you'll need about 70-80 of them)
- Arduino Nano
- ULN2003 stepper motor control board
- 28BYJ-48 5V stepper motor
- 8*8mm Computer button
- USB terminal
- Cables
After printing the files, insert the two M3*10mm flat head bolts for the stepper motor in the ring gear holes and place the sun gear and the 3 planets gears; insert the 3 11mm steel pins in the planets gears, the 3 nuts in the top ring gear and assemble the top ring gear to the gearbox fitting the pins holes. Now you can insert the 4.5mm steel balls through the hole, and after placing all the electronics inside the case and after uploading the Arduino code, you can mount it to the gearbox using the 6 M4*30mm flat head bolts. After that, you can mount the plate on top of the ring gear using 3 M3*10mm flat head bolts and the rotating platform is ready!
The electronics consist of an Arduino Nano powered by a USB terminal, to which is connected a button that turns on and off the platform and adjusts its speed, and the ULN2003 which controls the stepper motor.
You can print each file with 0.1 to 0.2 layer height, 2-3 perimeters and 30%-50% infill; you don't need to enable supports.
