Z-probe with optical switch and Op-amp comparator

An z-probe which uses and optical switch and op-amp comparator for better trigger precision.
The op-amp is an UA741CN powered from a 5V source.
The metalic pin used in this probe is a nail (70mmx3mm) cut to required size.
The neodymium magnet is taken from an dvd drive (the optical head)
The spring is taken from an ball pen.
To add the electronics components i used a small perfboard.
Having a polished and correct trimmed head on metal pin is essential for accuracy. On my probe, without too much fiddling:
Mean: -0.017500 Min: -0.029 Max: -0.006 Range: 0.023 Standard Deviation: 0.008385

I created a proper PCB for the z-probe. I added a led to show when the probe is active.
Resolution: 0.3mm
Infill 25%
