3D Printable Homeware Design Competition

Submissions close 28th April 2017

Design Brief

It's time to think big and print big!

We've teamed up with WASP to bring you a truly unique opportunity to print on a whole different scale on their 3 meter tall, Delta 3D printer!

Boasting a build volume of 900 x 900mm, WASP's big Delta presents many new challenges and opportunities in what can be used for!

In this, first ever 3D printable homeware design competition, we want you to design a beautiful piece for the home, thinking about how best to showcase capabilities of this awesome machine's characteristics such as texture, color and build volume.

To enter, submit your designs as usual, along with a render to give an idea of the colours you would finish it with. WASP, MyMiniFactory and a panel of judges from Chelsea Design Centre, will select our favourite designs to be printed in full size on the WASP and shipped to the lucky winners.

This challenge presents a few additional limitations than you will be used to with FDM printers, so make sure to check out the full criteria below for tips on how to optimise your design for a chance to win.

Top Tips

For this competition you need to design a beautiful piece of furniture for the home - This does not mean you need to have a humongous printer! Just submit your design the same way as usual. If you have a printer, print and photograph your submission at whatever size you can.

Please note - you do not need to 3D print your entry yourself, submission of just the 3D printable model (in STL format) will suffice. We strongly recommend that you 3D print your own entry if you can, as this will allow you to showcase your piece as it was intended and improve your chances.

Designs that are submitted without photos of the final 3D print will be printed by the MyMiniFactory community - subject to printability and at a reduced scale if necessary.

IMPORTANT - Designs must be support free and print continuously. Please download the guide bellow we made for this competition for full details of this.
