I was inspired my Devin Montes at Make Anything to design my own hangboard for finger strength training after I found out that I could probably save money making my own.
I was able to mount my hangboard to my pull up bar (Iron Gym Pro Fit) which was convenient. I followed this video for doing that:
I bought everything he bought in the video aside from the slippers. However, I found #12 - 3/4" wood screws did the trick over the #14 - 3/4" ones he bought. Also I got poplar as my wood of choice (7 1/4" X 24" X 3/4") and chose its size making sure my holds could fit at about shoulder width apart.
With this design, I have the ability to swap out handholds if I decide to make new ones in the future. The holds mount with two bolts and nuts using clearance holes that I drilled through the wood. See the other pics for reference. Lastly, I added some grip tape pieces to the surfaces and it helped a lot. I still don't think I'll ever be able to do the 10mm depth pocket. I think one reason being that there isn't enough space to full crimp it and also because I'm a weakling still.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Devin printed his at 50% infill and 3 shells. I decided to do 90% infill and 3 shells. It's probably ok to do a happy medium between the two on infill to save some plastic.
I oriented my holds like Devin did his and the only supports I used were on the mounting tabs and the outer edge of the overhang to make sure the curvy bits printed successfully.
