New from FFFTech; we have developed the best thing since canned bread! (Yes... that's sadly a real thing) After our local idiot engineer slammed the door for the umpteenth time, we had to fix a gaping hole that was smashed into the wall by the doorknob. After plugging and painting the would-be gloryhole, we decided to come up with a solution...
Introducing the Doorknob Block! This blandly named mastercrafted device that "NOBODY" has ever thought of before will keep your weak willed wall from becoming the filthiest of gloryholes! Featuring an 80mm diameter inverse dome, it can protect from the largest of knobs! (KEEP YOUR MIND OUTA THE GUTTER!)
Simply mount the device where the doorknob would contact the wall, and PRESTO! You now can kick your door in with no worries, even if you're a psychopath, you're covered!
So go to your anger management class, you volatile twit, and print the Doorknob Block, Today!
And remember; it protec, and it attac, but most importantly, it comes in blac!
I tested this by swinging the door into it with moderate force. After 5 slams there was a dent, most likely due to the lower percentage of infill not being able to handle the force. Increasing infill to about 20% to 25% should protect against more or at least a few harder crushing forces. I printed this with standard PLA with no chipping or cracking. Printing with a tougher material will without doubt give additional strength.
With moderate use, (no intentional hard door swings) this should last over a couple years.
