I was playing around with colour gradient printing, and wondered if I could make the effect a bit more interesting. What I set out to do was to angle faces in alternating directions to produce a light-dark-light-dark effect, so that the change from one shade of blue (in this case) to another was almost lost as a result. It reminds me of the classic checkerboard optical illusion where the same tone serves as both the dark and light square on different parts of the board. I could probably google that and put a link here, or something, actually. Okay, here it is!.

Obviously this is a vase mode print! Or, Spiralize Outer Contour if you're using Cura, and probably other names elsewhere. I've printed this one in a graduated colour scheme from dark blue to light blue, but that's hard to notice because of the effect of the facets all the way up!
