The goddess Eos (Dawn) attempted to seduce Kephalos but, when he refused, she tricked him into killing his own wife, Prokris. This scent bottle in the form of Kephalos shows the hero with his head lowered, gazing in a sentimental attitude towards his hunting dog, now broken away.
