All owners of a Desktop 3D printer have already experienced the frustration of not knowing what to do with an empty filament spool. Most of the time empty spools are not accepted in local recycling programs and very few filament companies have a buy back or recycle program of their own. As a result, empty spools can end up in the landfill.
This project was designed to upcycle and reuse my Meltink3d filament spools into stackable DIY vertical garden. Vertical gardening allows home gardeners to grow more using less space and this DYI project keeps 3d filament spools out of landfills. Grow food such as strawberries, lettuce, herbs, small peppers, and almost anything you can imagine. Planter pot files in this design project have drainage holes for top down drainage and watering.
Print planter1.stl for bottom spools and planter2.stl for higher up the spool stack. Print a connector to keep spools in place. Recommend using E6000 glue to secure all design pieces in place.
