Description
These two fragments belong to the same sarcophagus. The relief (inv. 8647) shows the episode of the Argonauts saga of the conquest of the golden veil. On the left Jason, armed with helemt and shield, grasp the veil avoiding the surveillance of a snake enchanted by Medea. In the other fragment (inv. 8646) with the dextraru, iunctio, the right handshake of the two spouses, symbol of the matrimonial bond, is represented a funerary farewell scene. The woman wipe her tears with the cloak while the man sadly greet her for the last time.
