The mounting point is designed for a standard snap-locking DVD motor. It is designed without bottom slots to allow light through, but can still be viewed on our Hex Strobe Docks and Wooden Strobe Docks (on Kickstarter now). It was then printed in Natural clear PLA to allow light to diffuse through the plastic from within.
If designing a motorized strobe base of your own, it can also be printed in a colored plastic and bathed under white or colored strobe lights from above. Internally lit Strobe Docks can also be purchased on our website at Novatropes.com
This model is much better suited for overhead-lit configurations as light doesn't penetrate the bottom plate very nicely when lit from beneath.
Note: Mounting snap-hole dimensions are very precise. Print with a .4mm nozzle with PLA only. Printing with a raft is also imperative, as even slight bed leveling imperfections will result in the statue "wobbling" during operation and creating unpleasant visual noise.
Nozzle must be 0.4mm for mounting snap-hole to properly mount to a standard snap-locking DVD motor.
MUST be printed with a raft to avoid spin-wobble based on slight bed-level inaccuracies.
