Variable Capacitor Extention Shaft
Variable Capacitor Extention Shaft

I found a need to extend the shaft of those cheap Chinese variable capacitors to make them more useful in my radio projects.
So, here it is. This is a rehash of one I did 4 years ago. You can extend the shaft to your own desired length. It is a good fit on my bag of VCs from China and has a hole for a screw straight through to the VC. Most VCs I have require a 2.5mm screw with a metric fine thread..
The shaft is a tight fit for a 1/4" knob, you can sand it slightly in a drill to get a perfect fit. Remember the are two shaft diameters 6mm and 1/4" or 6.25mm the 1/4" is more common for audio tapers.
N.B: Don't use too long a screw to mount the VC as it can jamb up the internals, 2 or 3 mm of thread is enough into the VC.
Good Luck ZL1***
No special requirements here, PLA is more than adequate. 210 celcius, slowing the print down improves the quality and the fit, The finnish we are not worried about.
