Design Brief

We are introducing a new competition where you can become a 3D printer designer or at least you can improve your new printer.

With the Original Prusa i3 MK3 3D printer model, and with the previous models, a number of extensions have emerged from the Prusa printers community. We would like to support this trend and bring you a competition in which you can design some printer extensions or refine some existing parts, or simply making the printer prettier/look better?

The author of the best design will win the Original Prusa i3 MK3 and will be able to test his design on his own printer.

Submissions close on 10/01/2019.

About Prusa Research

The one-man startup, founded in 2012 by Josef Prusa, expanded rapidly and gained worldwide critical acclaim thanks to its lineup of highly successful open-source Original Prusa i3 3D Printers.

Currently, Prusa Research has a team of over 300 people, while staying true to its open-source roots. Printed parts of every machine and every piece of software can be further modified by third-party users thanks to publicly available source codes. Prusa Research HQ also hosts "The Farm", a large hall, where over 300 3D printers print parts for new products.

Josef Prusa and Prusa Research continue to develop new ideas every day and they are working closely with community members and broader audience to expand the general knowledge of 3D printing all over the world.

As of September 2018, the company has sold more than 100.000 3D printers worldwide.
