This is one of three winning designs in Joel Telling's filament shelving system spool holder contest. A filament holder that just hangs from the front 1x2 will cause it to twist and warp over time and will not be very sturdy. My intent was to avoid this by designing a holder that hangs between the front and rear 1x2 thus not putting a strain on these wooden structures. Another design intent was to make the filament holder as non-obtrusive as possible allowing it to be positioned in as many locations as possible without disrupting the spools on the shelves.
This design is easy to install, move and remove. Simply tilt the holder to hang the front clips on the front 1x2 rail and then allow the rear of the holder to come up to engage the rear 1x2 rail. Hang your filament spool and print. To move simply tilt the holder to disengage the rear of the holder and slide to the desired position.
Ideally this object would be printed on a large formate printer, but I am able to print it on my MK3 without a brim.
Support is only required for the front hanger clip.
