Description
Christ straddles his sarcophagus, brandishing the standard of his victory over death, flanked by two angels. This scene has a very novel design. Until then, sculptors conventionally preferred to conform to the biblical account and represent The Holy Women at the Tomb, as can be seen on the back of his capital.
