Description
Cosimo was the longest reigning duke in Tuscan history (53 years), and was known for very reactionary laws, including the ban of May celebrations and regulation of prositution. This portrait is one of two made for the family (father and son), and captures Foggini's style well, showing grandeur and lavishness of the comissioner. The sculptor worked for the family through his life.
