This mod has only been tested on the Mars original (not with the Mars 2/Mars 2 Pro)
Go from 50dB to 40dB or less with this mod!
Ideal for longer or overnight prints, especially if you require your machine to be quieter...!
The Elegoo Mars (stock machine) typically produces around 50dB in noise level while printing - which may be ok during the day, but in my case, an issue at night;
This modification allows to significantly reduce the noise level while retaining active cooling functionality - after installing this adapter and a 120mm fan (I'm using Arctic P12 fans);
- 4x 15mm spacers
- M3 screws (fan duct + fan assembly)
How to proceed:
remove the build plate and vat
protect the screen with a microfiber cloth and some foam
remove the front and back plate on the machine, to access the interior
unscrew the 4 bottom screws and remove the existing 80x15 fan (don't forget to unplug the power connector first)
separately, assemble the 120mm fan to the duct - I'm using Arctic P12 on my assembly
use any of the small holes on the duct to pass any wires into the machine
place the 4 spacers inside to help support the gap between the heatskink and the bottom of the machine - where the old fan used to be
the duct will slide in and also help support the heatsink
screw the duct to the case using the 4 existing long screws from the mars
The Mars doesn't have fan speed control, the fan is either on or off; A potentiometer may be added in order to manually control the fan speed and with it, the noise level to reduce it even further - this is how I have it installed.
Additional feet extensions are included, in order to raise the machine once the mod is in place.
And that's it!
