Description
In 293 AD, Constantius, father of the later Emperor Constantine, was made Caesar (deputy emperor) of the West by Diocletian. He rose to the rank of Augustus in 305 AD. The energetic turn of the head and short hair in the portrait are signs of the successful military leader.
