Description
Septimius Severus was a Roman emperor from 193 to 211 AD. He founded a new dynasty, after the end of the Antonines, and came from Leptis Magna in Libya. The four "serapis curls" on his forehead hold a special meaning, as they are a cult symbol of the Egyption god Serapis, to whom Severus felt particularly attached, as a North African.
